About Our Clinics

Every month we hold our clinic in Tijuana, Mexico. Our community partner is La Parroquia San Eugenio de Mazenod Morita, who generously allows us the use of their space to bring sustained medical care to the community of La Morita and surrounding areas.

Clinics are held every third Sunday of the month, including during winter and summer break months. Some clinic dates are subject to change based on conflicting events (finals, etc.)

The parish San Eugenio de Mazenod is owned by the Archdiocese of Tijuana, led by Msgr. Francisco Moreno Barron, Fifth Archbishop, and overseen by Madre Gloria.

How to Attend

Providers

Medical and dental providers are able to attend any of the date clinic dates. If interested please contact our Internal Vice President at: acramer9425@sdsu.edu

Volunteers

Member volunteers are welcome and encouraged to apply to attend any of the clinic dates once they meet all requirements to be eligible to go to clinic. Once selected, member volunteers must have scrubs and have paid gas and pharmacy fees to participate in our clinic. Volunteer drivers are exempt from paying gas fees. 4:30 AM - Meet at The District Apartments

5:00 AM - Head to Clinic (~50 min drive)
6:00 AM - Arrive at Clinic
8:00 AM - Registration opens and Clinic starts

Services We Provide

Registration

Registration is where patients check in for the clinic.

During registration, volunteers gather demographic information to create the patient's MRN file. This file also includes medical history as well as any current health concerns. These files allow the clinic to have some background information on the patient as well as to have a file on record for their next visit.

Lab/ Triage

In triage, medically certified volunteers assess patients' vital signs while recording their medical history and chief complaints. At the lab, patients are offered a variety of tests including blood glucose, HbA1C, pregnancy tests, urinalysis, and COVID tests. After the lab results are documented on the
chart, they are directed toward provider care.

Dental

In dental, patients recieve dental care treatment from a dental provider. Based on the patient's needs, dental can provide oral examinations, teeth cleaning, restorative procedures, and sometimes oral surgery.Volunteers have the opportunity to shadow the providers as well as interpret depending on theirSpanish speaking capabilities.

Pharmacy

chart, they are directed toward provider care.

Public Health

Public health serves as a way to inform our patients about a variety of topics related to public health. The volunteers present on a different topic each week with visual aids to help illustrate ther points.
Depending on the topic for the monthly clinic, different supplies is given out to our patients.

Optometry

Our optometry services provide life-changing vision care to underserved populations in Tijuana, where access to glasses and eye exams is limited or cost-prohibitive. Each month, patients receive full triage, autorefractor testing, one-on-one consultations with optometrists, and custom frame fittings—all coordinated by our undergraduate volunteers. These services not only restore vision, but empower patients to return to work, care for family, and engage with their communities more fully. Additionally, our monthly Tecate clinics extend this care beyond La Morita, reaching patients lin even more remote areas of Baja California. These Tecate clinics allow us to maintain a consistent and growing presence in the region, strengthening trust and continuity of care while giving volunteers a broader understanding of binational healthcare challenges.
