About Us

Flying Samaritans at SDSU is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit that organizes monthly free clinics in Tijuana, MX in collaboration with an extensive network of medical professionals in the San Diego area, SDSU alumni, and faculty. As student leaders and volunteers, we act as the foundation for the clinic and are in charge of everything from patient registration to pharmacy operations and prescription filling. Our community partner is La Parroquia San Eugenio de Mazenod Morita, who generously allow us the use of their space to bring sustained medical care to the community of La Morita and surrounding areas.
Why Flying Samaritans
Flying Samaritans is community of students passionate about addressing healthcare barriers. This club is a great way for volunteers to acquire shadowing and scribing experience in medical provider rooms (MDs, DOs, PAs) at the clinic.
There are many opportunities to explore different health professions firsthand. Volunteers with accepted certifications (EMT, MA, RN, Nursing 202) may also participate in the hands-on application of triage and lab skills.
Practicing Spanish language skills through medical translating and communicating with patients is also possible at the clinic.

Flying Samaritans Participation
GBMs are held biweekly (every other week) on Tuesdays from 6-7 pm. Our committees including Public Health, Medical Spanish, Marketing, and Website meet during non-GBM weeks and are a great way to get involved! Clinics are an all-day commitment on the second Sunday of each month. We also hold fundraisers as well as donation drives that support our clinics. More information on events can be seen on our events page.
How to Get Involved
There are many ways on how you can get involved here with Flying Samaritans. You can attend our GBMs or join one of our committees (fundraising or philanthropy). Participate in our donation drives or fundraisers (look at the events page for more details). Make sure you are eligible and sign up for clinic (details on how to be eligible are in the membership page). Q&A
How do I become a member of Flying Sams?
How do I sign up and become eligible for clinic?
Active members are able to sign up for clinic through our monthly sign up forms that will be posted on our linktree. I don't go to SDSU, can I still join clinic?
Of course! Complete normal membership and eligibilty requirements and sign up for next montly clinic!
When is the next clinic?
Is the trip to Mexico dangerous?
You can find travel advisories for U.S. citizens traveling to Mexico here.
Safety of volunteers is the number one priority of the Flying Samaritans of SDSU. We will only be traveling as a group in Mexico during daylight hours. Volunteers will travel in caravans where each car has at least one spanish speaker, a person with cell service, and an executive officer who knows the directions to and from clinic.
Should you have any other suggestions on ways to be safe in Mexico, due to your experience or knowledge, please contact us at flyingsamaritanssdsu@gmail.com
